When was the last time that you visited the Toronto Island? Join your fellow EACTN colleagues at our February 9, 2022 ZOOM session for a tour of this Toronto geographical gem with Marta O’Brien, Architectural Historian. “The Island” is actually a small cluster of islands forming a sheltered harbour for Toronto. Today, there are three major uses of the Island land:
- Recreation
- An airport
- A car-free residential community that began in the early 1800s.
Long gone are the amusement park, the baseball stadium and the commercial main street. Through this illustrated talk, Marta will discuss the fascinating history and often controversial development of this Toronto landmark. There will be time for a question and answer session after the presentation.
Marta’s presentation is on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 10 am (ET) via ZOOM. This is a “free” event to members but you need to register using the form below. Registration deadline is 5pm on February 6/22. The ZOOM link will be sent to those who are registered the day before the event. Please advise the organizer if you register but are then unable to attend the session.
You can find a document on how to use Zoom here.
