Virtual events and activities

During the Covid-19 pandemic the Club’s Executive Committee organizes a number of virtual events hosted through Zoom. These will last as long as in-person socialization is curtailed. This will provide opportunities to socialize virtually rather than in-person, thus supporting one the Club’s goals to provide forums where members can interact and keep in touch with each other

Specific details of dates, venues and other relevant information can be found in the Club calendar.

Currently, virtual events are organized as follows:

  • News From Abroad: presenters, all Club members living abroad, talk about their new life outside Canada
  • Remarkable Journeys: presenters, also Club members, talk about their new career or hobby after their retirement from Imperial.
  • Pick 3 tournament: stock picking competition
  • Name That Tune: an external party organizes a virtual meeting where participants guess the name of a piece of music or song.

Reports on some of those events are posted here. The Club is also planning additional virtual events.

In addition, the Club is offering the following ongoing virtual activities:

    • a group Facebook page where members can share postings: see here
    • A bi-weekly Vintages wine reviews from John Adam – posted on the group Facebook page, see above
    • Available training on Zoom use; email to trainers
    • A weekly Wine Forum sent via email; archived here
    • A monthly crossword puzzle
