EACTN Virtual Activities Survey
The EACTN executive focus has always been to engage and encourage annuitant interaction and fellowship among its members in our retirement years. This has
been done in a variety of ways, primarily focused on in-person activities such as golf, walks, theatre, bridge, dinners and other cultural events. Over the past
couple of years of the Covid pandemic, through the use of internet based communication technologies such as Zoom and Facebook, we have expanded interaction between annuitants in what is commonly referred to as the virtual world. Going forward, although we want to continue to focus the bulk of our energy on in-person interaction, we also want to determine if there is an ongoing interest and value in continued virtual activity.
As we look into the future, a number of realities face us as an annuitant club:
- The Toronto North club’s average membership age is increasing as new members with a Toronto North affiliation during their working careers reduces.
- With increasing age, our mobility and ability to venture out for in-person activities declines.
- Technology, such as zoom, can provide additional fellowship as long as we have the technical competency, connectivity and hardware to participate. This
interaction can include a variety of topics such as health information, entertainment, sharing interests/concerns, even increasing our understanding of fellow members. We are an interesting group of people with fascinating stories and interests. - With age, our social world shrinks and virtual technology can play an increasingly important role in both continued mental health and happiness
Advantages of continued and/or expanded virtual activity:
- Include members when they are not in the Toronto vicinity.
- Include members and non-member annuitants who do not live in the Toronto area but have an affiliation with the Toronto Imperial community.
- Allow interaction with other Imperial annuitant groups in the online world.
The key question: Is this type of fellowship something we want to maintain or further develop post Covid?
At this time, we would like to survey you, the members, to determine your level of interest in continuation and/or expansion of these virtual activities as we move
forward. Organizing and hosting virtual sessions does not come without effort and we want to understand if this effort is warranted. Please participate in the
following survey so we may obtain your input on the direction of your club in the virtual world.
Please answer the following questions by the survey response deadline of 5pm on Friday April 15, 2022. Your input is both important and appreciated. Thank you.
PLEASE READ EACH QUESTION CAREFULLY. CLICK THE DROP-DOWN MENU,
THEN SELECT YOUR RESPONSE BY CLICKING IT. DEPENDING ON YOUR ANSWERS, YOU MAY BE ASKED TO SKIP CERTAIN QUESTIONS.
