Combining Indigenous knowledge with western science as communities in far northern Ontario seek ways to adapt to climate change. Living close to the U.S. border, most of us probably form our opinion of climate change based upon what we see, read and hear about it as it applies to our immediate surroundings.
But what about those parts of Canada that most of us rarely ever to visit?
In our upcoming Zoom presentation we are fortunate to have one of Canada’s
leading experts on the impact of climate change facing the inhabitants of
northern Ontario. Dr David Pearson, who spent much of his career teaching geology at Laurentian University in Sudbury, will speak about the climate challenges facing the First Nations and the benefits of a collaborative approach that combines Indigenous
knowledge with western science.
Be sure to join us on Wednesday, February 22, to learn about the unique journey
that Dr Pearson and his associates have embarked upon.
The registration deadline is Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 5:00 pm. If after registering you find that you are unable to attend, please let the organizer know by sending an email to dacox@sympatico.ca
