Toyota assembly plant visit 2024 @ Toyota vehicle assembly plant
Oct 10 @ 12:00 – 13:30

Registration for this event is closed. However, interested members can still registered and they will be put on the waitlist.

In April 2023, we hosted a visit of the Toyota Motor Manufacturing facility in Cambridge. Given the high level of interest and that we had to limit participants, we are offering this tour again.

This is a great way to learn more about car assembling facilities and witness many aspects of the process.  The tour will start at the Experience Centre with interactive exhibits and a short video.  The next stage will take you on a motorized tram through the assembly plant.  The tour will end with a Q&A.  In total, the visit is expected to last 90 minutes.

Please note that visitors need to bring a valid photo ID and arrive on time at 12:00 for the check-in process.  While photos will be allowed in the Experience Centre, no photography or cell phone will be allowed during the tram tour. Please leave bags, backpacks, and purses in your vehicles.  All other personal items will be locked up during the tour.

This is a self-drive event; directions to the plant visitor parking are below:

We wish to also invite you to join us for an informal luncheon after the visit, at the Country Girl Family Restaurant.  If you are interested, please check the appropriate box in the reservation form.  Please note that participants will be responsible for their own tab. Below is the link to the restaurant website for the menu and location. https://countrygirlrestaurant.ca/lunch-menu/

The number of participants for this tour is limited. and for members only.  Registrations will be processed in the order received; you will be notified if you are put on the waiting list.

You can register electronically (preferred) as follows by filling the “Electronic event registration” form below and clicking “Submit”.

2024 St Jacobs & Drayton Schoolhouse Theatre – Dear Jack, Dear Louise @ St. Jacobs Schoolhouse Theatre
Oct 17 @ 08:00 – 18:30

EVENT CLOSED FOR FURTHER REGISTRATIONS. IF YOU WANT TO ATTEND THIS EVENT, PLEASE CONTACT RICK HOTZ AT rfhotz@gmail.com

Dear Jack, Dear Louise

Crackling with humour, emotion, and poignancy, Dear Jack, Dear Louise is an inspiring reminder of the best we can be, even in the worst of times.

When two strangers meet by letter during World War II, a wartime romance begins to develop. U.S. Army Captain Jack Ludwig, a military doctor stationed in Oregon, begins writing to Louise Rabiner, an aspiring actress and dancer in New York City, hoping to meet her someday … if the war will allow. But as the conflict rages on, their relationship is threatened before it even starts.

Tony Award®-winning playwright Ken Ludwig (Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, Lend Me a Tenor) tells the joyous, heartwarming story of his parents’ courtship – and the results are anything but expected.

When we arrive in St. Jacobs, we will stop for a visit at the St. Jacobs FarmersMarket where every week, hundreds of vendors bring Ontario’s farm-fresh foods, crafts, imported goods and most things imaginable.

At 11:15am we will be driven to the quaint village of St Jacobs where we will have lunch at Jacob’s Grill.

When registering you choose from:

  • two appetizers (Mixed Greens or Seasonal soup)
  • three main course options (Fish & Chips – beer battered haddock, fresh cut fries, home made tartar sauce and creamy coleslaw, or German Schnitzel – crispy pork schnitzel, sauerkraut, german potato salad, grainy mustard and lemon, or Vegetarian Pasta  – Chef’s choice pasta.)

Dessert is Dutch Apple Pie. Coffee, tea and soft drinks are included but wine will be at your own expense.

After lunch you may have time to explore some of the shops in St. Jacobs before heading into the Schoolhouse Theatre to see “Dear Jack, Dear Louise.”  The show starts at 2pm. The Theatre is right in town at 11 Albert Street almost directly across the street from the restaurant.

We should wrap up at about 4:30pm and arrive back in Toronto between 6:00-6:30pm.

Our chartered bus will be departing from Clatworthy Arena at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Clatworthy Arena is located in the northeast quadrant of the Leslie and John Street intersection.  Entrance to the arena (2400 John Street) is from the north side of John Street, just east of Leslie Street.

There will be a secondary pick-up point, about 30 mins later, at Exit 328 of Hwy 401. Take Hwy 401 Exit 328 / Trafalgar Rd. northbound. Turn Right / East at the Shell station at Steeles Ave. Turn right at first opportunity into Prime Outlets Mall and right again into Parking Area “A” just behind Shell station.
